The Fringe shade design is a clever modern interpretation in glass of a Victorian-era silk shade. Notice the brick-like squares on the dome of the shade. This area (greatly magnified) represents the warp and weft weave of the fabric. The diamond shapes are knots that attach to a banding from which long silk fringe cascades downward to form the shade’s skirt. The bottom of the fringe is decorated with a horizontal stripe. You almost want to run your fingers through the silky fringe.
